Next opponent for the Czech is Serena Williams in a rematch of 2015 French Open Final.
Caroline Wozniacki managed an easy first round win overcoming Arina Rodionova 6-1 6-2. It was a one-way victory, as the former world Nº1 played consistently enough to secure a spot in the next round and thus, looking for a deep run at Melbourne Park this year.
Seeded No.14, her highest seeding ever at a Slam in singles, Elena Vesnina defeated Ana Bogdan 7-5 6-2 on court 3. The Russian has struggled with her rhythm during the first set but found her game in the keys moments and closed the contest in one hour and 23 minutes.

The Belgian is a very tricky opponent, especially in the early stages of a Grand Slam, but for Konta today was not a bit trouble, even if the first set finished after 12 games.
