AO 2017 (R2): Eugenie Bouchard moves into the third round after eliminating Shuai Peng in two straight sets

The beautiful Canadian played a solid game to win 7-6 6-1 against the veteran Peng.

Bouchard started quite strong by breaking the serve of her opponent and managed to keep the advantage until the eighth game when the Chinese came back to level the score at 4-4. In the next four games, the players held serves and forced a tiebreak. There, Genie proved to be the more consistent player and grabbed the set with a forehand down the line.

In the second, Peng looked tired and wasn´t able to maintain the same level of play as her younger rival. Showing her beautiful groundstrokes and winning point after point, the scoreboard flowed quickly to a 5-1 for the former world nº5. Refusing to lose, the 30-years old player tried a last comeback by saving the first three match points, but she couldn´t save the 4th one, as Bouchard returned too well to put the end of the contest.

Overall she hit 5 aces and made 22 winners to 20 unforced errors to conclude a well-balanced performance.
