AO 2017 (1R): Domi Cibulkova defeats Allertova to book a ticket for the second round

The world Nº6 found a winning way to claim a 7-5 6-2 victory against a tricky opponent in Melbourne opener. After a tired first game where Cibulkova had to save two break-points for holding serve, she regrouped fast to take a 5-2 advantage by playing solid and safe. Serving for the set, the Slovakian lost the concentration and gave a chance to her opponent to come back and level the score at 5-5. To win the next two games and secure the first set, Dominika came with her hard-hitting shots from the baseline by moving Allertova all around the court.
In the second it was a much easier job, as the Czech player started missing easy balls and her flat groundstrokes were not as precise as they were at the beginning.
So after one hour and 42 minutes, the WTA Finals Champion put an end to secure the win against Denisa Allertova. "I'd say it was a pretty good performance, for a first round. In every Grand Slam the opening round it's always tough, but you have to get through it."

After the match, she was asked about how it feels to be seed No.6, her highest seeding ever at a Grand Slam "This is my first experience, being really high-ranked in a Grand Slam. It's my first time being in this situation and I really try to focus and do the right thing, not let my head go to negative thoughts and lose focus."
